Terms of Service

The agreement between you and us.

When you visit our website, fill out a form, donate, volunteer, or join one of our programs, you are agreeing to these terms. We have tried to write them in plain language. If something is unclear, ask us.

Effective date: April 27, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of teenparentingnavigators.org and any services, programs, or events offered by Teen Parenting Navigators NFP ("TPN," "we," "our," or "us"), an Illinois Nonprofit Corporation (File No. 74533051) and a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization based in Lombard, Illinois.

By using our website or participating in any TPN program, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site or our services.

1. Who can use our services

Our programs are designed for young parents ages 14 to 24 in suburban Cook County and the surrounding communities, and for the volunteers, partners, and donors who support that mission. Anyone of any age may visit the public website and contact us with questions.

If you are under 18, you may use our services. We treat your participation with confidentiality and dignity (see our Privacy Policy). If you are under 18, we encourage you to share what you are doing with a trusted adult, but we will not require it as a condition of receiving support, except where Illinois law obligates us.

2. Programs and services

Our programs (Navigating Fatherhood, Visit With Your Navigator, Doula Support, the Empowerment Pantry, the Prevention Program, and any others we offer from time to time) are described on our Programs page. Participation is voluntary. Specific eligibility, attendance, or completion requirements may apply to any individual program, and we will explain those clearly when you enroll.

Submitting an intake form is the first step toward enrollment, not a guarantee of services. We will follow up with you to determine fit, capacity, and next steps.

3. What we do not provide

TPN provides peer support, mentoring, education, doula services, and material resources. We are not a substitute for professional medical, mental health, legal, financial, or emergency services. Specifically:

  • We are not your doctor or your child's doctor. The information shared in our programs is general and educational. Always consult a qualified medical professional for medical decisions.
  • We are not your lawyer. We may share resources, but we do not provide legal advice.
  • We are not a crisis service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911. For mental health crisis support, call 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline) or text HOME to 741741 (Crisis Text Line). The contact and intake forms on our website are not monitored 24/7.

4. Volunteer participation

If you apply to volunteer with TPN, you agree to:

  • Complete the application process honestly
  • Pass any background check we may require for roles that involve direct contact with families
  • Sign a confidentiality agreement before you begin
  • Follow our Volunteer Code of Conduct, including treating all participants with dignity, respecting confidentiality, and reporting concerns about safety to TPN leadership immediately
  • Acknowledge that several roles carry mandatory reporter responsibilities under Illinois law

Volunteer status may be terminated by TPN at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice.

5. Donations

We are profoundly grateful for every gift. By donating you acknowledge:

  • TPN is an active 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit. Donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law. Consult your tax advisor for your individual circumstances.
  • Donations are voluntary and non-refundable, except in cases of error or fraud, which we will investigate and correct in good faith.
  • Online donations are processed through Givebutter (a third-party payment processor). Their terms and privacy policy also apply to your transaction.
  • You will receive a receipt by email after a successful donation. Save this for your tax records.
  • Recurring donations continue until you cancel them. You can cancel at any time through your donor portal or by emailing us.
  • Restricted gifts (those given for a specific purpose, such as a specific program) will be used for that purpose. If we are unable to use a restricted gift for its intended purpose, we will contact you about a redirect or refund.

6. Acceptable use of the website

You agree to use this website only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not infringe on the rights of others or restrict their use of the site. You agree not to:

  • Submit false information through any form on this site
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the site or related systems
  • Use the site to harass, threaten, or impersonate anyone
  • Upload malicious code or attempt to disrupt the site's operation
  • Scrape, copy, or reuse content from this site without our written permission, except for personal, non-commercial reference

7. Intellectual property

The TPN name, logo, and the content of this website (text, photos, illustrations, design) are the property of Teen Parenting Navigators NFP or our licensors, and are protected by U.S. copyright and trademark law. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without prior written permission.

If you submit a photo, story, testimonial, or other content to us, you grant TPN a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use that content in our program materials, fundraising, and outreach. You can withdraw this permission at any time by emailing us; we will stop using your content in any future materials. For minors, we obtain a parent or guardian's consent in addition to the participant's.

8. Third-party services and links

Our site uses several third-party service providers (Cloudflare for hosting, Resend for transactional email, Givebutter for donations, Google Workspace for staff email). When you interact with these services through our site, you are also subject to their terms.

Our site may link to other organizations. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of those external sites.

9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The website and our programs are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, except where required by law. We do our best to keep information accurate and the site working, but we cannot guarantee that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from viruses.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, TPN, its directors, officers, employees, volunteers, and contractors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the website, our programs, or any third-party services we use. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of our services is limited to the amount of any donation you have made to us in the 12 months prior to the claim, or one hundred dollars ($100), whichever is greater.

10. Mandatory reporting

Several TPN staff and volunteers are mandated reporters under the Illinois Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act (ANCRA). If we receive credible information that a child is being abused or neglected, we are required by law to report it to the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), regardless of confidentiality agreements. We will tell you when this happens whenever we are legally able to.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the website or our programs at any time, with or without cause and with or without notice, for any reason, including breach of these Terms. You can stop using the site at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law) will continue to apply.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Effective date" at the top of this page will always show when the current version took effect. Material changes will be highlighted on the website. By continuing to use the site after we post changes, you agree to the updated Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of TPN services will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois, and you consent to that jurisdiction.

14. Severability

If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest will remain in full effect. The unenforceable part will be interpreted to come as close as possible to its original intent within the bounds of the law.
